Join us for a volunteer day at Hendrick Farm! This is your chance to find yourself in a beautiful setting, get a little (or a lot of) dirt under those fingernails, and be involved with your local organic farm. You will be joining us for a day of harvesting garlic scapes! The scape is the delicious and tender flower of the garlic plant. You will be shown how to properly cut and harvest the scapes before they flower. We will also be sharing recipes on how to use scapes and ensuring that you’ll be able take home enough of them to make your own pesto!
WHAT TO BRING
- You’re going to get dirty, so don’t wear anything you would be scared to stain!
- Boots or work boots are an asset
- Gardening gloves
- A hat and sunscreen (that sun can get hot!)
- Water bottle
WHERE TO MEET
You can park in the gravel parking lot in front of the old barn at 193 chemin Ladyfield. We ask that you then follow the path to the right of the barn (running between the farm and the barn) and meet the other volunteers and farm team at the harvest station.
